Chaucer’s Retreat is a lower ground floor apartment in the expertly converted former Chaucer House Hotel, a local heritage building located directly opposite St John’s Church in the heart of Keswick. Sleeping two, it is a large apartment with its own private entrance and car parking space.

Property Details

The apartment is accessed via its own private entrance at the back of Chaucer House. It has a hallway and cloak area and steps down into a spacious apartment with views of Latrigg and beyond from the lounge/diner window.

It is equipped to the highest standard. The fully fitted kitchen, has a dishwasher, microwave, electric hob and fan assisted oven and a variety of high quality kitchen utensils and crockery. There is also a utility area are with a washer dryer.

The large open plan lounge and dining area has a Smart TV, DVD player, leather suit, coffee table, book case and a dining table with seating for two. Free wi-fi is available.

The bedroom has a king size bed, double wardrobe, chest of drawers and hair dryer. There is a full bathroom next to the bedroom with bath, sink and toilet and there is also a separate shower room and toilet off the entrance hallway. Chose a luxuriant bath after a long walk or quick shower before dinner.

A Cot and high chair is available on request. Towels are included.

Chaucer House apartments are well regarded for the standard of fittings and décor and are located in an ideal position, very close to the centre of town. The Alhambra cinema and the many bars, restaurants, shops and cafes are a two minute walk away. The lake is within a 10-minute stroll, taking you through the beautiful Hope Park Memorial Gardens with mini golf, crazy golf and putting. Launches run regularly around the lake with numerous drop off points.

Once you experience this luxury apartment you will want to return time and time again.

A Lovely apartment and location, but there was an issue with the boiler and no hot water. This was resolved quickly and some temporary accommodation provided for a couple of days while the problem was sorted out. A bit inconvenient but did not detract from a good week in Keswick. A lovely, friendly and helpful team to deal with.

Lovely apartment, spotlessly clean with plenty of room and everything you would need for 2 people. Ideal for a few days stay in Keswick. Excellent location, right in the centre of the town with access to plenty of nice walks in the area. Booking process was very straightforward and all information needed was given before we arrived. We have always been delighted with the properties we have stayed in with Keswick Holiday Homes, and Chaucer’s Retreat was no exception. Clean, warm, tastefully decorated, and well equipped, and right in the heart of Keswick.

This place is perfect. It’s in the centre of Keswick, just a few mins walk to shops, restaurants and even a small cinema! It is such a quiet location it’s silent at night which was perfect for my little break. Everything in the apartment is modern, well-equipped as they have thought of everything – all the utensils, pans etc you could need. The wifi is very good (more than 50mb), there is a smart tv with films, Netflix etc if you want a cosy evening in.

Excellent accommodation – very good facilities and handy for town centre, but also very peaceful. Very thoughtful service throughout.
